Following in the footsteps of influences like Bob Dylan and Jackson Browne, Thedrifterluke's songs incorporate old truisms from a unique and fresh perspective.

The son of evangelical missionaries, Luke Abbott traveled frequently as a child. He adapted early to the life of a traveler, moving from California, Texas, Colorado, Japan, and New Mexico, eventually settling in Washington by age 9. He loved music from an early age singing bluegrass/gospel tunes with his family in church performance. By age 15, Luke began to focus more and more of his time to writing and creating original songs.

Between an active life in various church music programs and his own music projects, he continued to hone his craft by attending Northwest University to pursue a BA in music. While there, he participated in The Mountain Valley Arts songwriting competition near Huntsville, AL and won first prize in his category and was also chosen as a featured artist at a songwriting festival for his original song "ordinary".

With songs tackling ideas like addiction, faith, regret, expectation versus reality, and the seasons of life, thedrifterluke's music sheds a fresh and compelling light on the human condition. He constructs his music with empathy and introspection; feeling it's important to try to understand each individual or experience.

His music provides the listener a window into a world that's far from being based in concrete-absolute truth, but rather where wrong and right seem harder to define because the perspective is ever changing.

He has had the opportunity to travel the country singing and playing with various musical groups including:
Northwest Choralons (electric guitar), Northwest Chamber Choir (baritone lead), Dante and the Mirrors (lead guitar/vocals), Young Lions (bass guitar/vocals) , Crawford and James (mandolin/guitar/banjo/harmonica/vocals) , Thedrifterluke (guitar/vocals) , and the Luke Abbott Band (guitar/vocals/harmonica).

No matter how big or small the stage, the goal is the same. To write and perform timeless music in a captivating and awe-inspiring way.
